Executive Functioning: What Sets Thames Academy Apart From Other Transition Programs

Thames Academy is a one-of-a-kind, pre-college program located on a college campus unlike any other in the nation. One of the many aspects of Thames Academy which makes us distinct is our embedded Executive Functioning Training program.  For a summary of our executive functioning program, click here.

Executive Functioning skills include:

Controlling Emotions
Metacognition
Task Initiation
Time Management
Planning & Prioritization
Goal-Directed Persistence
Flexibility
Sustained Attention
Response Inhibition
Working Memory

Thames Academy believes that these skills are imperative for college students' academic, social and personal success. Thames Academy faculty and staff have participated in Marydee Sklar's Seeing My Time executive training program in order to effectively teach these skills to Thames Academy students. We have created an intentionally structured program of weekly small group workshops and individual support with academic advisors to discuss, monitor and evaluate each student's growth toward his/her executive functioning goals and development.

We would love to answer your questions about this innovative executive functioning program being implemented at Thames Academy. Visit us or ask your son/daughter's academic advisor to tell you more!
