Use Pinterest to find Assistive Technology Tools

Pinterest is a great website for creating virtual bulletin boards of just about anything....recipes, art, crafting ideas, gardening/landscaping, decorating, etc.  But did you know that you can use Pinterest to explore assistive technology options?
CLICK HERE to view one of many links on the topic of assistive technology. Try typing "Assistive technology" into the search bar on Pinterest - see the variety of websites and links that appear!

In our experience, unfortunately many high schools do not introduce or even discuss assistive technology. If you were lucky enough to attend a school where they knew about assistive technology, the training and information which was provided to students and families was most likely very minimal. Thames Academy in collaboration with the Mitchell College Disability Student Services (DSS) office will help your son/daughter identify technology that will match their learning needs. Many technologies have a software website that allows you to try their product free for 30 days. Other products are available to borrow from the DSS office at Mitchell College.

If you are interested in attending a Parent Workshop on the topic of assistive technology and options/tools that are available for your son/daughter, please email Jennifer Sullivan. We are happy to create a workshop which provides information, options, and hands on exploration of this topic.

Also, CLICK HERE to read a great blog post from earlier this week with a video which overviews accessibility options on Android and Apple devices as well as Kindles/Tablets.
