*POPULAR SUMMER SERIES* The Top 10 College Readiness Skills!

Thames Academy is bringing back our popular blog segment this summer called "Summer Skill Series!" This segment is a series of blog posts identifying the Top 10 College Readiness Skills to practice with your son/daughter over the summer. Don't worry if your son/daughter hasn't mastered these skills before move-in day...the idea is to become familiar with college expectations and begin practicing these skills at home. Thames Academy will reinforce these skills throughout the year both inside and outside of the classroom.

COLLEGE READINESS SKILL #1: Making Your Bed

This sounds simple enough, right?
But does your son/daughter really know the difference between a fitted sheet and a flat sheet? For that matter, does your husband/wife know the difference? i'm not making any gender stereotypes but...... Can your son/daughter independently remove their bed sheets and then put fresh sheets on their bed....including those pesky corners that require some pretty creative gymnastics to be able to reach the backside of the mattresses?!

If your son/daughter has already mastered making their bed, then proceed to the next challenging step - asking them how making their bed would be the same as / different than making their bed if they were on the top bunk of dorm bunkbeds!? My daughters have bunkbeds right now and I can assure you it's not as easy as you might think :)

Practice this skill over the summer.....this skill doesn't include Doing Laundry....that will come later in Skill #6!

GOOD LUCK!
